Social Work Graduate Program Ranked in Top 20% Nationally

The UNC Charlotte School of Social Work master’s program is tied for 51st in the 2019-2020 U.S. News & World Report rankings, improving four places from the previous year and ranking in the top 20 percent of all graduate social work programs nationally.

“Our ongoing ascent into the upper echelon of social work programs nationally is a testament to the quality of the academic experience at UNC Charlotte and the impact our faculty are making through their research and community outreach,” said Dr. Schnavia Hatcher, director of the School of the Social Work.

U.S. News & World Report bases their rankings on peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators and faculty at accredited social work degree programs.

As a reflection of UNC Charlotte’s role as North Carolina’s urban research university, the master’s curriculum is especially focused on the needs of vulnerable populations in the growing urban and suburban areas of the state. Graduates of the program apply a broad range of knowledge and skills in order to refine and advance the quality of social work practice and the profession.
