Biography

In 1992, Yvette Watson obtained a BA in Sociology/Social Welfare from St. Augustine University. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. Yvette began her career in mental health, working in the inpatient child and adolescent unit at the Center for Mental Health, now Behavioral Health Randolph, then moved to outpatient care, serving as one of the first school-based mental health clinicians in Charlotte Mecklenburg County Schools. She later worked in private mental health, collegiate level, and community healthcare for the following years. Yvette taught as an adjunct professor in Ohio and with UNC Charlotte in the School of Social Work. Later, she returned to being a school-based clinician. Since working in CMS, she has held the following positions: school social worker (elementary, high school, and pre-kindergarten), school social work coordinator, school social work program specialist, and her current role as school social work program manager.

Yvette is active with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and serves as a co-chair of the Scholarship Committee. Other civic involvement includes Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, and Kappa Silhouettes. Yvette is a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She has been married for 27 years and has three children, ages 21, 18, and 16.
