Information for Agencies and Agency Staff

The UNC Charlotte School of Social Work Practicum Office recognizes the important role that community agencies, practicum instructors, and task supervisors play in shaping students’ academic experience. We value the support these agencies provide to our Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students during the practicum experience.

New practicum placement sites:

We welcome the opportunity to expand our partnerships with agencies and organizations both in the Charlotte, NC area and throughout the country. The Practicum Office typically onboards new agencies in the fall semester of the year prior to placement, though there are some exceptions. For example, agencies seeking to host students starting in fall 2026 would usually begin the onboarding process in fall 2025.

If your agency is interested in becoming a practicum placement site for UNC Charlotte social work students, please complete the form linked below at any time of year and we will follow up with an update about our onboarding timeline.

Practicum Instructor & Task SUpervisor Training

Agency staff who are supervising UNC Charlotte social work students should complete the Practicum Instructor & Task Supervisor Training at least once every five years. Key topics of the training include updates and changes to Practicum Education policies and requirements, details about completing practicum documentation, information about helping a student to be successful, and more!

The live, virtual training is offered at the start of the semester each fall. A self-paced option is also available year-round.

Additional Resources:

We provide many practicum documents and updates directly to Practicum Instructors and Task Supervisors throughout the year. Below are some additional supplemental resources that are available to Practicum Instructors and Task Supervisors.
