School Advisory Board

Welcome to the School of Social Work Advisory Board (SAB), a dedicated committee committed to enhancing the quality and relevance of social work education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Our mission is to collaborate with the School of Social Work, offering valuable insights and feedback that contribute to the excellence of our academic programs and the preparation of students for contemporary social work practice.

Mission & Function

The SAB, comprising professionals from various social work fields and other helping professionals meets at least quarterly with the Directors of the School of Social Work and Practicum Education. Our members represent diverse practice settings and populations, ensuring a comprehensive perspective. We focus on providing feedback on student quality, curriculum relevance, practicum issues, and other crucial aspects, ultimately striving to maintain high-quality educational experiences aligned with the School’s mission.

Terms of Service & Participation

Board members serve a two-year term, with opportunities for reappointment. The board includes 14-16 members, encompassing diverse practice settings and populations. Student representation from the BSW and MSW programs is essential, ensuring their voices are heard through voting via the BSW Social Work Club and Graduate Social Work Association (GSWA). Our members, active professionals or recent retirees, actively engage in at least one meeting per semester and contribute to planning special projects or events endorsed by the Board.
